FOR A NUMBER of years we’ve supported Cure Kids, who are driven to find cures for the life-threatening illnesses that affect many of our children.
During Red Nose Day for Cure Kids in July, our stores collect donations for Cure Kids and many stores host their own fundraising events. Look out for our special Red Nose Day coffee cups in stores throughout August and please give generously as we raise funds towards medical research to cure kids.

 Columbus Nelson Supporting a safe community
Columbus Coffee Nelson has a number of police staff coming to our café on a regular basis, so when one of them mentioned they were looking for support of the Neighbourhood Watch programme, owner Ian glady offered to help. They believe in being a socially responsible business and like to support the community where they can. The Neighbourhood Watch sponsorship helps to create a safer community and it ties in nicely with their support of local schools and the local football club. |
 Columbus at Mitre 10 Kapiti Supporting Community Development
Local owner Frank keeps a strong involvement within the local community through sponsorships, fundraisers and supporting local charities. Their Kapiti Kid’s Trust initiative hosts face painting for a gold coin donation each holidays to entertain the kids and fundraise. 100% of donations go directly to the Trust, which brings sporting, arts and motivational speakers into 21 Kapiti schools. Frank also believes it’s important to support his community’s youth. He hopes to kick-start the careers of Kapiti’s young community by providing them with opportunities through the ‘Youth Pathways to Employment’ programme. The programme aims to better connect the youth of Kapiti with potential long-term employers.  Columbus Auckland Hospital Providing a special escape
Since opening in 2012, Columbus Coffee at Auckland Hospital has served literally thousands of patients, families, doctors, nurses and hospital staff. The cafe for many is literally an 'escape' - it's a break away from the hospital and an opportunity to treat themselves to a coffee, to relax, see some natural light and for some patients to see life going on as 'normal'. Local owner Dee and her team develop a special relationship with many of their customers. We go out of our way to make our customers feel comfortable - whether that's making them a specially prepared meal that they feel like, sitting down for a chat, sharing a laugh - or sometimes even a cry. We see our customers as very special and enjoy making the effort to create a little bit of joy and relief for them in the day. |
